JIM JENKINS our Vice-Chair since 2012 passed on 17 August 2020 at the age of 74. Over the years, Jim has been a huge contributor to FCBB environmental activities. We were fortunate to benefit from his long experience as DFO Chief Resources Allocation Officer for PEI (1980 to 2000) where besides a wide range of activities, he played a pivotal role in development of the aquaculture industry on the Island. This long experience with DFO and his limitless scientific knowledge of all aspects of the environment combined with his love of nature enabled him to contribute vitally to all our plans and projects.
Jim’s expertise was widely sought at other levels: He was an elected Director of the PEI Watershed Alliance, an Advisor to the Minister of Environment and a Board member on The Island Nature Trust. All these contacts made him an outstanding guide to navigating the complexities of dealing with agencies, government policies and people in a positive style.
His cheery disposition and his rich background of experience made Jim an interesting and effective contributor to any project presented to him. Above all, Jim was always a pleasure to work with since he was honest, intelligent, considerate, and optimistic in any circumstance.
We will miss him and remember his many contributions to FCBB.
